These so-called oligarchs should be called out for what they actually are-despicable human beings. Their risk-taking and ingenuity should not be celebrated in the absence of their humanity and their boundless greed. I hope I’m around for their reckoning. But at 71, I’m guessing I’ll just be around to witness the crash and burn of the shining city on the Hill.
I am 73 years old and have often told my wife that if you look back in history, most democratic governments last about 200 years. Sop, we are just about on track. Our only hope is that we can turn 2/3 of the special house elections coming up. But, the crash and burn is starting today....
Thank you for this launch. Musk is what my millenials call a "Douche."
Wish Mark Cuban would fund a national streaming spot where the masses could view Substack journalism and the journalists would be paid by contributions.
Musk's disingenuous self-aggrandizement needs to be broadcast far and wide. This bottom-feeding guttersnipe has the money to PRETEND that he's a huge humanitarian, all without lifting more than a finger (figuratively speaking). He brays like the loudest ass about his supposed charity, getting others to spread his lies, while he provides the barest minimum in order to say that he participated.
Courtesy of his familial wealth, he's had the opportunity to invest in multiple innovative companies. As luck, or good maneuvering by their respective corporate boards, would have it, he's managed to earn billions from his investments, largely while adding little or nothing to their value. His money is his only claim to fame, and even the Money Grubber in Chief will tire of him eventually.
He is a corrupt asshole. Would anyone like to buy a used starlink "kit"?
If you absolutely need it it's a good thing, it's also 150 a month You don't pay that kind of money unless you can't live without it. Since then I've had both T-Mobile and Comcast and they're just as good.
Just like Detroit's lead water fix. Just like Hurricane Maria and microgrids for Puerto Rico. Just like the imaginary Covid ventilators. Just like the ill-fated sub to rescue the Thai cave kids. Musk must insert himself into any well-publicized disaster with empty promises because he has a hero complex and loves the attention.
Thank you for reporting the actual truth about him. Due to his immense wealth and media presence he has great PR amplified by his x-followers and believers in his great intelligence. In this regard he is equal to Trump , if not superior.
He is a very dangerous being, trying to gain absolute leadership over the US, implementing his dangerous visions along with his techbros.
This is some important and courageous journalism... will come back often!
Here is a speculative tip... I believe that EM may have influenced/encouraged/etc. the publishing of an updated version of Wernher Von Braun's novel about a mission to Mars in 2006. There are references to Von Braun's original novel describing a character called "The Elon" who is the leader of a government on Mars when the Earth mission arrives. Seems suspicious considering who we are talking about. Could he have secretly added his name to the 2006 version? That version appears to be longer and different than the original in some ways.
Here is publishing history according to Wikipedia:
1948–1949: Wernher von Braun wrote Marsprojekt, a science fiction novel in German.
1950: Henry J. White translated Marsprojekt into English as Mars Project.
1952: Marsprojekt's technical appendix was published in German by Umschau Verlag as Das Marsprojekt.
1953: Mars Project's technical appendix was published in English by the University of Illinois Press as The Mars Project.
late 1950s: This Week published excerpts from the unpublished Mars Project novel.
2006: The Mars Project novel was published by Apogee Books as Project Mars: A Technical Tale.
The 2006 version was published by Apogee Books based in Ontario, and the publisher has deep connections to space industry. EM lived in Ontario at one point, and has contracts with government there. There is an old blog post series about the This Week excerpts here https://dreamsofspace.blogspot.com/2012/09/life-on-mars-from-this-week-april-24.html
I asked ChatGPT to read all of the blog post series link looking for "Elon" and got this response:
"I have reviewed the content of the provided links from the "Dreams of Space" blog, which features articles and images from the 1960s discussing "Life on Mars." After examining the text and images, including those containing words, I did not find any mention of the word "Elon." This is consistent with the fact that these articles were published in the 1960s, decades before Elon Musk became a prominent figure.
It's worth noting that Wernher von Braun, a key figure in early space exploration, authored some of the content in these articles. While von Braun was a visionary in space travel, there is no indication that he referenced or predicted individuals by the name "Elon" in these writings."
Best of luck in your new venture. We need this now. I’m glad to be aboard.
Thanks for the support, Paul.

I’m right there with you and I will try as much as possible to prevent it from happening.
Good luck on your latest endeavor. You’ll have lots of material
It never was a shining city on the hill.
I know, but the republican’s original god said it was.

What an awful human being.
Take out “human” and it’s more fitting for this “being”. He was and is a POS.
The worst

Dreaming big to stay alive the next 4 years.
it's always a grift...always. That's his default.
For years now we have known that Musk is the second worst person on the planet. And possibly the most dangerous.
Sad to find out that was true.

Glad you are doing this. The truth needs to be told
Thanks for this. Important journalism!

How soon before we can transition to taking action? How much planning time is needed?

Maybe wrong, but IDK, weird coincidences still.... https://www.reddit.com/r/elonmusk/comments/c7heu1/comment/esvjg9o/
What an ass bag
Looking forward to this, much needed.
