We, the human race, haven’t quite perfected living together here on earth without destroying each other. Perhaps Musk and these other billionaires should focus their vast resources closer to home before fighting each other over space.

What a great idea! I wonder if it ever occurred to any of them?

Awesome nuanced response.

Enough with Musk and his pathetic Mars vanity project. Enough with tax payer money waylaid to feed this lunatic's dystopian, fantasy.

The USA may be a lost cause, however, other countries would be wise to abandon contracting Starlink and find other alternatives. Musk will weaponize it as he did In Ukraine. Ditto any project or company associated with this drug addled over bloated ego run amok.

Let him go to Mars. And take trump and all the other traitors with him. The further away from us the better.

As long as we aren't forced to fund it with our tax dollars, I don't care where they go.

Great post! I didn’t know that SpaceX was so closely tied to Vast. Don’t forget about Axiom Space, which NASA is working with to attach modules to the ISS in 2028, and then separate from the ISS to become its own commercial space station before ISS is decommissioned. Deorbiting ISS earlier than 2028 is a direct blow to Axiom. Similar to the FAA shifting to Starlink, which is a direct blow to Verizon. I’d expect lawsuits from these affected companies.

If NASA can do the space program WITHOUT MUSK - THEN THAT IS THE WAY WE SHOULD GO - musk has shown us who he is - he cannot be trusted, he thinks he is personally 'top dog' of humanity, and it's time to show him there are better qualifications for 'top human' than those he is displaying !!! I would love NASA to just NATIONALIZE his Starlink project completely - take it away from him so he can't be the despot he wants to be !

You know what I don't get about Musk? He keeps saying that we need to go to Mars, lest the human race go extinct.

On the other hand, he also is thoroughly on the record[1] as believing that we are living in a simulation. If that is true, why does he care about the extinction possibility? Whoever is running the simulation would just need to reboot, right?

Point! You win the internet today!

But would the reboot have Musk in it? Doubtful.

Heh. That almost sounds plausible. And then I think of Elno's sense of self-regard, and I can't imagine him thinking that for a second.

Maybe this is why Bezos has ramped up his sycophancy with his latest changes to the Post. He's going to have to drastically increase his sucking up and currying favor to catch up to musk.

Living as the citizen of a country run by corporate oligarchy is somewhat like having to put up with the experience of working simultaneously for all of their companies as an unpaid slave. Where in this former Constitutional Republic did it specify that wealthy corporate CEOs were authorized to make their corporations' priorities and their vanity ambitions the priorities of the nation?

Send Musk to mars now!

Colonizing Mars is impossible. No oxygen no water no fossil fuel. A stupid idea.

There is only one reason these boys are so gung-ho about going to Mars - precious MINERALS they hope to have 'dibs' on - rare earths particularly ! IOW far more wealth for THEM ! What is the next definition beyond trillionaire - because that is what they desire ???

Here it is Musk continually taking bites out of the US space program so he can personally privatize and rebrand the entire thing. Whether he ever gets to Mars or not there are uncountable billions to be made and huge global influence in the evolving autocratic order.

If people follow Common Sense Skeptic and Thunderf00t they can see how quickly Musk is full of BS. he cant even get his what started out as BFR with 350tons of lift capability down to 50 tons now, yet cant get to orbit empty so how is he going to put up big modules like the Shuttle could? More fake money from the crypto Ponzi scheme too many fall for.

He is always looking after his own bottom line. Always. You don’t become the richest person ever on the planet otherwise.

Two [*incontinent] CONS running the world.

Perhaps Felon Musk should just turn Mars into the First Apartheid planet in the Solar System and raise his baronial brood there and take ⸸rump with him!

I’m confused - what is the “commercial” application here? It sounds like he’s corruptly using his position to shove competitors out of the way so his private company can take even more public money. That’s not a business model. It’s graft.

Musk has inserted his fingers

into a vast array of

government agencies. Don't

lose sight of that. Pretty

soon, we may see him and

his minions take over completely. Trump will just be

happy playing golf and left

alone.
